flying by

My sister-in-law once told me that the life of a mother is full of long days and short years. I think I did not truly understand what this meant until Evie came along. Now with Elise here, it couldn't be more true. I can't believe my baby is 2 years old and my newborn munchkin is no longer a newborn but already 4 months!

Evie...this girl...well, let's just say she's ready to be an adult, or at least she thinks so. It may be a "terrible two's" trait but "little miss independent" insists on doing everything herself. "Me do it!" almost comes out as a reflex these days. Evie is a quick learner but sometimes has some difficulty doing things on her own which results in much frustration and tears. My sweet little firecracker can often be found playing in my makeup drawers these day. She struts out of our bathroom donning generous amounts of lipgloss carefully applied on her lips. She looks up at me with those big brown eyes, her face beaming with pride, smiles and says, "I have makeups."
"Yes, you do!" I reply. Sometimes I just can't get enough of her. Nowadays, amongst the chaos of rearing two small children, I find myself torn between wanting them to grow up and stay little. All along the way, I'm doing my best to put these memories onto paper so I don't miss a beat.
