ann arbor family photo shoot, take 2!

The more I shoot family sessions, the more I love them! I actually really enjoy being able to spend a little time with a friend's family and their little one, uninterrupted by my own little one. Beautiful Emma and her parents were no exception! We had a great time exploring the Ann Arbor Arboretum on probably the last 70 degree day of October. The weather was beautiful, as were they!

an ann arbor fall family session

As mentioned in my previous post, Autumn is my favorite time of the year. Alas, along with the sweet comes the sour, and in this case specifically, cold rainy weather. I've actually had to cancel and reschedule three family sessions this season due to inclement weather. Since I shoot with natural light, this poses to be an obstacle. These models were such troopers!!! I had the opportunity to shoot this beautiful family last week. These photographs were actually taken over two sessions as a result of fickle mother nature. Evie's friend Logan, his baby sister Emerson, and their wonderful parents braved the elements like professionals. You would never know it was drizzling and frigid. It doesn't hurt that they are a gorgeous family, inside and out!

a little autumn love

It's the most wonderful time of the year. No, it's not Christmas. Guess again! What I consider my favorite time of year is the short and sweet Autumnal season. It's just chilly enough to feel cozy in your coat or sweater, or better yet, cozy up to a loved one. The leaves are changing color and then gracefully fall to the ground where they're crunching underneath your boots. The colors are so vivid and you are soaking up every part of it because you know the bitter cold months that will keep you a prisoner of your own home are ahead. Evie and I escaped the indoors for what we thought would be our last warm day before we were permanently wearing layers for a sunset shoot. The leaves had already begun to turn and beautiful prairie flowers were in full Fall bloom.

I plan on submitting one of these photos to Matilda Jane's Photo Love Contest. If you know me, you know I love Matilda Jane just as much as I love Autumn. The company represents everything girly and fanciful. I can't help but smile when I see Evie (or any other little girl) donning an MJ dress. The problem with submitting a photo is that I can't pick a favorite!!! If you see one you like, let me know. It's so tough to choose.


   

the rutas - a special family session

Recently, I was lucky enough to photograph a very delightful family. My brother-in-law, Matt, along with his lovely wife, Beth, schlepped my awesome niece and nephew to Ann Arbor from the Chicago suburbs for a mini vacation. We had great time catching up with them and I had a great experience photographing them.

This family is gorgeous! I feel super privileged to have captured these special moments.
